Located in the central part of Chongming Island, Dongping National Forest Park boasts lush trees and fresh air, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can invite a few friends to barbecue here or rent bicycles for a leisurely ride around the park. It is an ideal place to escape the summer heat. For larger groups, paintball is an option; children can enjoy bumper cars, carousels, and other amusement facilities. The park has two entrances, the main entrance at Gate 1 on the south side and Gate 2 on the southwest side, both providing access. Due to its size, many visitors choose to rent bicycles at the entrance, allowing them to cycle around the park in approximately 2 hours. Alternatively, electric carts or mini-trains are available for a more effortless tour. Entering from Gate 1, most entertainment facilities and experience projects are concentrated on the right side, including paintball shooting, archery, horseback riding, go-karting, and grass sliding, along with water sports like pedal boats and water walking balls. The park also features botanical gardens such as the osmanthus garden, plum garden, cherry blossom garden, bamboo garden, and maple garden, offering a variety of flowers and plants to admire in different seasons. Particularly in late autumn, the park’s clusters of red cedar forests are striking, with the abandoned J-6 fighter plane nestled among the trees exuding a sense of old-world valor. The silver fuselage contrasts with the swaying red cedars, creating a stunning display of strength and grace. On the west side of the park, the sika deer field houses both free-roaming and penned deer, where children can feed the deer by hand, a delightful experience. Additionally, there is a barbecue area and camping base deep within the park. Barbecues in the forest are quite rustic; you can bring your own ingredients or purchase them at the barbecue area. The park provides rental of grills and other items but advises avoiding holidays when the area is crowded. You can also bring a tent to rest on the large lawn or even spend the night in the camping area, experiencing the wilderness. The park also rents out tents and sleeping bags. Dongping National Forest Park [Flower Expo South Garden] is a must-visit in spring for its February orchids. As the spring breeze blows, these humble and selfless flowers bloom into a vast blue-purple sea, a spectacular sight! Cherry blossoms are the sprites of spring. When they appear, they dance gracefully in the wind, softening and romanticizing the entire world. The color of the begonias is a gentle warmth, and their fluttering form is an unceasing anticipation. Year after year, we look forward to spring and make appointments with it. Tulips. The language of tulips is excellent; it signifies nobility, kindness, universal love, thoughtfulness, and elegance. When in bloom, the colors are very bright, including white, purple, pink, red, yellow, and bicolors, each representing different meanings.
Sika deer, one of the auspicious animals in ancient China and currently a protected species in our country, symbolize wealth due to the phonetic similarity with ‘Lu’ for ‘prosperity’, thus deeply loved by people. Go-karting. Experience the thrill of speed and the joy of overtaking while driving racing cars on a spacious track, all set against the backdrop of a natural forest oxygen bar with an abundance of negative ions, making every activity a ‘lung-washing’ journey. Dragon Ride. Ride on the spine of the ‘dragon’, feeling the surprise of ‘dragon soaring and tiger leaping’ as the dragon’s body moves up and down, embodying the spirit of ‘dragon and horse vigor’. Hurricane Swings. You will sway up and down with the swings, experiencing the freedom of flying and the joy of soaring through the clouds. Paintball Shooting. Friends, come and test your skills to see if you can hit the target from a hundred paces, like shooting an enemy from a thousand miles away. Barbecue Site.
