Expo Culture Park

The Shanghai Expo Culture Park is located in the core area along the Pudong Binjiang River. Its northwest is adjacent to the Huangpu River. It extends from Lupu Bridge – Changqing North Road in the east, to Tongyao Road – Longbin Road in the south. The land area is about 2 square kilometers. The Shanghai Expo Culture Park is positioned as an excellent urban central park in the world with sustainable ecology and nature, integrated and innovative culture, and shared by citizens. Combined with the completed Houtan Wetland Park, the Shanghai Expo Culture Park renovates four reserved venues of the World Expo. At the same time, new facilities such as the Expo Garden, Shen Garden, Twin Peaks, Shanghai Greenhouse, World Floral Garden, Grand Opera House, and International Equestrian Center are built to create a unique riverside park green space in the central urban area of Shanghai in the future. The Shanghai Expo Culture Park takes historical water systems, industrial memories, and Expo textures as representative elements, and superimposes forests, wetlands, and lawns to form a multi-layered landscape structure system of ‘water, surface, humanity, and nature’. The landscape extension of the Expo texture realizes the continuation of the Expo spirit and presents the transformation from the World Expo site to the urban central ecological experience area. Stacking mountains and arranging waters, striving for naturalness, and integrating elements of Jiangnan culture. The Shen Garden, which showcases the characteristics of Jiangnan gardens in the form of a garden within a garden, interprets the symbiotic coexistence of forests and gardens. The colorful forest composed of retained trees and newly planted trees depicts a continuous picture from urban forests to natural forests. The northern area of the park opened this time covers an area of 85 hectares. It is mainly composed of landscape areas and scenic spots such as Dancing Square, Quiet Forest, Avenue of Time Imprints, Expo Garden, Forest of Music, Central Lake, Houtan Binjiang River, and Shen Garden. Opening hours: open all day throughout the year.
