Binjiang Forest Park is located at the northwest end of Gaoqiao Town in Pudong, facing the opposite Pudong Wetland Forest Park across the river. The park is relatively large, with lush trees and a variety of flowering plants visible during the blooming season. Compared to other parks in the city, it is less crowded, making it an ideal place for taking a walk, cycling, or setting up a tent for a rest. It is situated at the confluence of the Huangpu River and the Yangtze River, where visitors can sit by the river and watch the passing ships or enjoy the beautiful sunset, basking in the comfort. The park is designed with plants as the main theme, fully showcasing the ornamental value of plants, creating various distinctive plant-themed scenic areas within the park: such as the Magnolia Garden dominated by Magnolia and Michelia species, the Rose Garden dominated by Begonias and Cherries, the Azalea Garden dominated by Azalea plants, and the rare wetland botanical garden in Shanghai… Among them, the Azalea Garden, covering nearly a hundred acres, has planted over twenty varieties and more than five thousand plants of Rhododendron, including Spring Rhododendron, Hairy Rhododendron, Summer Rhododendron, and Highland Rhododendron, which bloom successively from April to June each year. It is convenient to drive from the city center, just cross the Huangpu River on the outer ring road and you’re almost there. Taking public transportation is not too far, although waiting times may be longer. Upon entering the park, visitors can either walk or rent bicycles for cycling, and taking an electric cart is also convenient, with a fare of 10 yuan per person for a full loop around the park, with three stops to get off and play before waiting for the next cart to the next stop. Upon entering the park, there is a large lawn where visitors can bring tents to camp and bask in the sun, or play frisbee and fly kites with their children. Kites are sold at the park entrance at a reasonable price. There is a barbecue area in the park where visitors can invite friends to rent a grill and barbecue here. A regular grill is 80 yuan for two hours (including charcoal), and there are also food items for sale, but they are more expensive, so it is recommended to bring your own food. Walking along the main road, there are lush ecological forests, wetlands, and ornamental plant areas. Walking in the quiet forest trails in summer is very cool, and visitors can admire wetland plants such as lotus in the wetlands. Every April, the park’s azaleas and poppies bloom, which are very beautiful with a wide variety of species, making it a great time for flower viewing and photography. Walking along the main road from the entrance all the way to the end is the viewing platform, where visitors can sit on chairs by the river and watch the water and sky blend into one, with hundreds of boats passing by, and enjoy the gentle river breeze blowing on their faces. In the evening, setting up a tripod to shoot the sunset here will definitely be rewarding. In addition, the park has amusement facilities such as children’s bumper cars, electric boats, and live-action CS. There are restaurants and snack bars in the park, which are slightly more expensive than outside but still acceptable. If you are not here for barbecue, you can also bring your own snacks to satisfy your hunger.
