The Shanghai Postal Museum is located on the north bank of the Suzhou River and is situated in the Shanghai General Post Office Building. In this historic old building, people will see interesting train carriage post offices as well as various interesting old post boxes and mailboxes. They can also learn about the development history of postal services. The General Post Office Building was始建于 in 1924. As soon as you enter the gate, there are Romanesque columns, a spiral staircase, and magnificent chandeliers hanging high on the ceiling. The whole building is in European architectural style. The whole building is in a ‘U’ shape. In the atrium on the ground floor, there are physical models such as the Qing Dynasty postal carriage, the first postal transportation vehicle purchased in 1917, the first regular airmail route plane, and the ‘mobile post office’ train carriage post office. You can also see the scene of the Qing Dynasty postal office. The second floor is a spacious postal hall. Here, it is divided into four exhibition halls that tell the postal development history at all times and in all countries. You can see various old post boxes and mailboxes with strange appearances. In the treasure hall, many rare stamps are also displayed, such as stamp treasures such as ‘Penny Black’, ‘Large Dragon Stamp’, and ‘Green-Clothed Matchmaker’. Here, children can simulate writing letters and experience the feeling of delivering express mail in an ancient post office. The fifth floor of the building is a roof garden. There is a bell tower in Baroque style in the southeast corner. Standing on this viewing platform, you can enjoy the scenery of the Suzhou River and overlook the beautiful scenery on both sides of the Huangpu River. It is very suitable for taking pictures.
