Located near the Bund and the Waibaidu Bridge, the Shanghai Bund Art Museum resides in the Asia Society Building, which was constructed in 1932 and once housed the Shanghai Museum. The art museum frequently hosts a variety of exhibitions where visitors can admire works from both Chinese and international artists, including abstract paintings, sculptures, and small-scale installations. The museum’s architecture seamlessly blends Eastern and Western cultural elements, featuring an elegant and exquisite Art Deco style that has made it a popular photo spot in Shanghai, especially among the young and artistic crowd. The exhibitions within the museum mainly consist of regular thematic shows that change themes and exhibits every few months, allowing visitors to delve into the essence of the exhibits with the guidance of a docent. Additionally, some exhibits are displayed on the walls of the museum’s café, and the outdoor area offers a rooftop terrace where one can enjoy the urban scenery while sipping a cup of coffee and taking a break. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 between January 1st and September 28th; closed all day on Mondays throughout the year; open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 21:00 between September 29th and October 5th; and open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 between October 6th and December 31st.
