Shanghai Maglev Transportation Science and Technology Museum (Longyang Road Branch)

The new Shanghai Maglev Transportation Science and Technology Museum is located on the ground floor of the Longyang Road Station, the demonstration operation line of the Shanghai Maglev Train, and officially opened on August 16, 2007. The museum’s predecessor was the Shanghai Maglev Technology Exhibition Hall. The museum covers an area of 1250 square meters, and it is composed of five major exhibition areas: ‘The Birth of Maglev’, ‘Shanghai Maglev Line’, ‘Exploring Maglev’, ‘Advantages of Maglev’, and ‘Outlook of Maglev’. Following a chronological thread, it narrates the past, present, and future of maglev technology. The new museum has a compact layout, rich content, and has made significant improvements in the means of display. It focuses on ‘attracting youth interest’ and ‘experiencing the charm of science’, adding many interactive exhibits, various models, and physical components, allowing visitors to understand the technological charm of maglev in a vivid display environment. The construction and operation of the Shanghai Maglev Transportation Science and Technology Museum will not only meet the needs of passengers who have experienced the 8-minute speed charm of the maglev train for knowledge about maglev technology, but more importantly, it will provide an effective technical platform in line with the ‘science and education for urban development’ requirements. It is a venue for enriching scientific knowledge and improving scientific literacy, fostering innovation awareness among young people, and broadening the scientific horizons of citizens. The museum is open all year from 09:00 to 17:30, with specific business conditions subject to the day’s opening status.
