Duolun Road Cultural Celebrity Street

Duolun Road is adjacent to Lu Xun Park. It is an ‘L’-shaped path more than 500 meters long. Along the road, you can see retro small western-style buildings with red or grey bricks and figure sculptures everywhere. It is very suitable for taking pictures and taking a walk. Many literary giants once lived here. Nowadays, there are many art exhibition halls where you can feel a strong cultural atmosphere. Entering this cultural street from the tail of the ‘L’ shape, the first thing that catches your eye is the Duolun Museum of Modern Art. Further ahead, there is a Christian church. It is the Hongde Church where many foreigners and new-style people who returned from studying abroad lived. Continuing forward, you can see an old bookstore. Next to it is a new western-style house with a yellow exterior wall. This place was once the residence of a Japanese naval officer. At the corner is a four-story bell tower called ‘Evening Picking Bell Tower’. After taking a few steps, you can see the entrance of an alley named ‘Jingyun Lane’. A group of left-wing writers such as Qu Qiubai, Chen Wangdao, and Mao Dun once lived here. And at No. 2, Lane 201, there is still the site and memorial hall of the Left-wing Writers’ League. It was once a place where cultural elites gathered. There are also many cafes with petty bourgeois sentiment and small folk collection museums on Duolun Road, such as the Shanghai Newspaper Museum, the Shanghai Folk Nanjing Bell Collection Museum, and the Shanghai Duolun Road Area Shanghai-style Cultural Center. In addition, you can see the exhibition hall of cultural relics and artworks of the Shanghai Cultural Relics Store. After visiting Duolun Road, you can continue to visit another characteristic path – Tian’ai Road. It is 150 meters east along North Sichuan Road from the northern end of Duolun Road. Open all year round and open all day.
