Shanghai Aerospace Science and Education Center

The Shanghai Aerospace Science and Education Center is a national, municipal, and district-level science education base, a propaganda base for China’s large aircraft project, an outstanding service quality industrial tourist attraction in Shanghai, and a designated science education base for the second phase of curriculum reform by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. It specializes in the promotion and popularization of aerospace science and technology knowledge. The Center’s 10,000 square meter outdoor exhibition area features more than ten different types of physical aircraft, mainly Chinese military aircraft. The indoor exhibition hall, known as the Shanghai Aviation Science Museum, spans three floors covering approximately 2,000 square meters and consists of three major thematic exhibition areas: ‘Approaching China’s Large Aircraft’, ‘Tracing the Century of Aviation History’, and ‘Exploring the Mysteries of Flight’. It includes a 3D circular screen cinema for screening three-dimensional movies, a model-making room for visitors to learn how to make airplane models, and two flight simulators for visitors to experience real flight. The Center is open all year round on Mondays, Wednesdays-Sundays from 09:00 to 16:00; closed all day on Tuesdays. At 15:45, interactive devices in Building B will stop operating and an announcement will be made to clear the area, with the museum closing at 16:00. Building B has a lunch break from 11:30 to 12:15. The Center is closed on Tuesdays and from Chinese New Year’s Eve to the third day of the Chinese New Year. Preferential policies include: children under 6 years old (inclusive) or under 1.3 meters in height (inclusive) enter for free; children aged 6 (exclusive) to 18 years old (inclusive) or over 1.3 meters in height pay half price. Disabled individuals with valid documents enter for free. Military personnel, police, and firefighters including disabled veterans, active-duty military personnel, retired cadres, people’s police, and firefighting rescue personnel enter for free. Elderly individuals aged 65 and above (inclusive) enter for free; individuals aged 60 (inclusive) to 65 years old (exclusive) pay half price. Full-time undergraduate and below students pay half price.
