The Old Pier is located on the banks of the Huangpu River in Puxi. It was originally the ‘Shiliupu Pier’. It extends from Waima Road in the east to Zhongshan South Road in the west, Maojia Yuan Road in the north and Xinyimaotou Road in the south. The riverside alleyways and old-fashioned Shikumen communities here tell the stories of the tycoons of Shanghai. After renovation, the former boiler room, staff bathhouse, and dilapidated factory buildings have now been transformed into characteristic bars, theme restaurants, personalized retail stores, and creative workshops. It has completely transformed into a trendy and cutting-edge place on the South Bund of Shanghai. The Old Pier is currently divided into two areas, the square and the creative park. The square is somewhat similar to Xintiandi. Foreigners from all over the world can be seen everywhere. But fortunately, the overall layout here is relatively open. Usually, there are not so many tourists and it is not so noisy. The old Shanghai style combined with some modern and unique creative elements has made this a place where many fashionable young people take wedding photos and hold weddings. At the same time, it also attracts many photography enthusiasts to come here for inspiration frequently. Creative small landscapes can be seen everywhere in the square, such as stools carved in the shape of English letters, bright red humanoid sculptures, oversized kettles, and wooden tea-tasting tables. It is worth mentioning the fountain in the middle of the park. The water in the pool can be drained. The middle passage can be used as a catwalk. Many fashion shows have been staged here. The creative park area introduces elements such as creative product workshops, avant-garde artist studios, and business offices. At present, many very distinctive creative and fashionable stores and art galleries have been introduced. The Old Pier is relatively quiet during the day. Mostly tourists visit. You can take pictures in the park as souvenirs or walk along the railing by the pier, feel the river breeze, and overlook the Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone on the opposite side. If you are tired, you can choose an open-air coffee shop, order a cup of coffee, and taste the slow life. Of course, the scenery at night should not be missed. As the lights come on, you can choose a restaurant with a terrace like Mythos or Long House. While tasting delicious food, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Huangpu River. The Oriental Pearl Tower and Jinmao Tower are in full view. There is all kinds of delicious food here. No matter which country it is from, it will make you unforgettable. In the late evening, if you still have energy, you can go to some small bars along the river and experience the nightlife of Shanghai. Open all year round, open all day.
