Dongzha is the main filming location for the TV drama ‘Like Flowing Years’, with its quaint residential buildings stretching along the riverbank, still inhabited by many locals, giving it a more vibrant lifestyle compared to Xizha. Visit famous attractions such as the former residence of Mao Dun and Xiuzhen Temple, and experience the tranquil life of the water town by taking a ride on a traditional Wupeng boat. By touring along the banks of Dongshi River, you will reach the main attractions within Dongzha scenic area, including fixed venues like the former residence of Mao Dun, Lizhi Academy, Wood Carving Museum, and Coin Museum. During the day, don’t miss the folk performances in Dongzha: the martial arts boat in the commercial area, the high pole boat at Caishen Bay, the flower drum opera performed on the ancient stage, and the shadow play in Hanlin House, all vividly depicting the traditional folk customs of Wuzhen. Due to safety considerations, accommodation services are not allowed within the Dongzha scenic area. However, there are some local homestays within the scenic area, which, while not as well-equipped as those in Xizha, offer a more affordable and authentic ‘water town’ experience.
