Located on Century Avenue South Road, Century Square in Shanghai is one of the larger open-air squares in Shanghai and is also a sculpture landscape square themed around time. It combines classical and modern landscaping techniques, encapsulating the essence of both Eastern and Western cultures. The famous Century Avenue and Century Park are ingeniously and harmoniously connected, running through Pudong in a seamless manner. From an aerial view, the square is symmetrically distributed, backed by the lush Century Park, facing the crystal-clear Science and Technology City to the east, and adjacent to the majestic new district administrative center to the west, resembling a pearl inlaid at the end of Century Avenue. It is profound yet dignified, smooth and beautiful, exuding vitality and a sense of the times. The entrance to the square is a large landscape sculpture designed based on a sundial, named ‘Light of the Orient’. It uses 24 tons of channel steel, constructs a platform of over 400 square meters, and the stainless steel pipe usage exceeds 6,000 meters. Facing Century Avenue, it highlights the time theme across the century, a combination of sculptural art language and modern high-tech architectural language, which is truly admirable! Open all day from January 1st to December 31st.
