Shanghai Cai Shen Temple is one of the few standardized Taoist temples in the country named after the God of Wealth. It was reconstructed on the original site of the ancient Hongqiao Temple in 2008. Hongqiao Temple, established in the 14th year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1586 AD), was named after its old locality ‘Hongqiao’ and once housed deities such as the Emperor of the Eastern Peak, the City God, the Compassionate Sage, and the God of Wealth. The temple is open from January 1st to December 31st, from 08:00 to 16:30.
