The Oriental Arch stands majestically above the vehicular tunnel at the roundabout of Dr. Ho Yin Road in the newly reclaimed area, casting a striking silhouette. Designed by Portuguese artist Carlos Marreiros, the arch is made of iron and copper and is left unpainted, allowing a natural patina to form on its surface, protecting it from corrosion. Towering 28 meters high and spanning 35 meters wide, the Oriental Arch is constructed from several large prefabricated copper-iron components, including curved columns on both sides and a central ring, interlocking to form the grand structure. It symbolizes the convergence and harmonious unity of Chinese and Portuguese cultures. The arch is open to the public all year round, with access available at all times.
