Guia Fortress

Guia Fortress is located on the top of Guia Hill. It is the highest point on the Macau Peninsula. Built between 1637 and 1638, it has sentry rooms, lighthouses, etc. Going straight to the top of the tower via the spiral staircase, you can overlook the entire Macau Peninsula and the ‘Historic Centre of Macau’. The beautiful scenery is all in sight. Beside the lighthouse is the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows. Originally, Guia Fortress was mainly used for defending against foreign invasions and as an observation post. It has always been listed as a military restricted area. Without approval, outsiders are not allowed to enter casually. In 1976, the fortress was opened as a tourist attraction and still maintains its original appearance completely.
