The name of this scenic spot originates from October 5, 1954, when the Portuguese President visited here. In commemoration of this event, the avenue was named ‘Avenida 5 de Outubro’. The avenue starts in the New Ferry Terminal area, spans the entire local peninsula, and then connects to the vicinity of the Chapel of Our Lady of Camoes.
