Guan Ye Street also offers a range of delectable foods, with the water crab porridge at Cheng Chang Restaurant and the ice cream at Mo Yi Ji, which are highly recommended and frequently visited by celebrities from Hong Kong and Macau. From Guan Ye Street, if you meander to the former site of the Governor’s Square, you can find the delicious Dali Lai Ji’s pork chop buns, which are juicy and extremely soft to bite into. At the other end of Guan Ye Street lies the old Taipa Market site, and along the way, you pass by the Bei Di Temple, which has a history of over 160 years. This small temple, consisting of just two or three rooms, enshrines deities such as the Golden Flower Mother, Guan Yu, the God of Wealth, and Lu Ban. Every year during the Bei Di’s birthday, a stage is set up outside the temple to perform the divine play, and there are continuous celebratory activities such as incense burning and offerings to the gods for several nights, creating a very lively atmosphere.
