Lianxi Temple

Lianxi Temple, with a history of over two centuries, is renowned for its many deities and thriving incense. Named after its location, the temple is situated in Macau, a region shaped like a lotus flower, hence the nickname ‘Lotus Island’. The path from the mainland to Macau is considered a lotus platform, with a mountain rising at its end, known as Lotus Mountain or Lianfeng. To the south of Lianfeng, there was once a stream flowing through the Xinqiao neighborhood, called Lianxi, and the temple was built on the right bank of this stream, hence the name Lianxi Temple. Initially constructed during the Daoguang era, the temple enshrines deities such as Huaguang, Bei Di, Caibo, and Wenchang. After several periods of destruction, renovation, and expansion, the Xinqiao district where the temple is located has evolved from a vast ocean to one of the bustling areas of Macau. The temple is open all year round from 7:30 to 17:15, with specific business hours subject to the daily opening status.
