The Hsinchu City Film Museum is situated on the former site of the National Theater, which was once the first air-conditioned cinema in Taiwan. In the past, this venue not only screened films but also hosted concerts, military recruitment, and musicals. Today, the museum primarily serves as a space for the preservation, exhibition, screening, research, and educational promotion of film artifacts. It features a multifunctional audio-visual room, film artifact display areas, the National Cinema Hall, an outdoor film projector display, antique air conditioning units, and a film corridor. The museum is open from 9:00 to 17:00 on Thursdays all year round and from 9:00 to 21:00 on Fridays all year round.
