Yingge Stone

Yingge Stone is located at the foot of the mountain behind Zhongzheng Road and Chenggong Street in Yingge Town, Taipei County. It is named after its shape resembling a parrot. For a long time, it has been a landmark of Yingge Town and also a spiritual indicator for the residents of Yingge Town. It is said that at the turn of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, Zheng Chenggong led his troops to march south along the Tamsui River. When they reached the area of Sanxia and Yingge today, they suddenly encountered a huge bird spitting fog, causing casualties to the soldiers. Zheng’s army then bombarded the huge bird. With one hit on the neck, the huge bird crashed to the ground and turned into a huge stone lying on the mountainside, which is the Yingge Stone we see today. Nowadays, the area near Yingge Stone has been developed into a park. Go straight to the end from Chenggong Street and you can reach Yingge Stone. There is a pavilion at its waist, which provides a resting place. There is a Yingge stone tablet in the stone cave on the huge stone, which briefly narrates the origin of Yingge Stone. Climbing up the steps, you can reach the top. There is a viewing platform where you can have a panoramic view of the street scene of Yingge, the valley of Dahan River, and the beautiful scenery of Yuanshan in Sanxia. Open all year round and open all day.
