The Yilan Traditional Arts Center is a haven for all art, culture, and literature enthusiasts and a must-visit destination for those traveling to Yilan. The park features three buildings open for visitors: Wenchang Temple, the former residence of Yilan’s first juren Huang Zhuanxu, and Guangxiaotang, each with its unique characteristics and representing the local artistic culture. Wenchang Temple, long revered by locals as a sanctuary for scholars, is dedicated to the Five Saints Wenchang who are believed to bless those pursuing academic achievements. Moreover, the temple hall also enshrines deities such as the ancestors of opera and craftsmanship, who play an essential role in the inheritance of Yilan’s traditional arts. In addition to the aforementioned three buildings, the park offers numerous other attractions. On the Traditional Arts Avenue, a variety of unique handmade stalls will captivate your attention, and the square features exciting live performances. If you feel tired, consider taking a boat ride at the ferry terminal to enjoy the beautiful scenery and visit Guangxiaotang and the former residence of juren Huang Zhuanxu, learning about Yilan’s family traditions, birth rituals, and folk culture. Within the park, you can also participate in DIY handicraft courses to experience making various handicrafts or join live parade activities to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune home. Operating hours are from 09:00 to 18:00 all year round. Additional information on preferential policies: 1. Free admission for individuals with disabilities (with valid identification) and one necessary accompanying person; children under 115 cm in height or under 6 years old. 2. Concessions for children aged 6 (inclusive) to 12 years old (exclusive) with valid identification, priced at 120 NT per person. 3. Senior discounts for individuals aged 65 and above with valid identification, priced at 75 NT per person.
