Yanzikou is a spectacular cliff section within Taroko Gorge, characterized by its towering and winding canyon walls, majestic cliffs, and meandering mountain caves. Standing by the roadside guardrail, you’ll find the mountain wall directly opposite, with rock faces eroded over time by the creek’s waters, forming caves in the softer layers of limestone. These natural caves are home to swallows, which nest in them. In the past, the sight of numerous rain swallows and swallows foraging in groups in the sky created the remarkable spectacle known as ‘Hundreds of Swallows Chirping in the Valley,’ earning the place its beautiful name. Regrettably, due to the overwhelming number of tourists, the swallows have been scared away by the noise from cars and people, leaving only a few occasionally flying around. The caves in the rock faces remain a wonder to behold, but the absence of the swallows adds a touch of regret. The area is open all year round and accessible at all times, with specific operating conditions subject to daily opening status. Important tip: Taroko National Park is significantly affected by weather conditions, so please pay attention to weather changes before setting out.
