The Hsinchu City Zoo was founded in 1936. In 2017, the ‘Zoo Regeneration Project’ was launched. With three core values: first, be friendly to animals. Create an exhibition area without cages and suitable for animals. The activity space for each animal is 1.5 times that of the past. Second, retain historical memories. The park specially retains old trees, historical buildings such as the elephant gate. When people enter the zoo, they feel familiar and full of surprises everywhere. Third, promote life education. Making the zoo a good place for experiencing life education is an important mission of the Hsinchu Zoo. On December 28, 2019, the zoo was reopened. Let this zoo that was gradually forgotten become a popular attraction again. The current ‘five major attractions’ in the park include the historical building ‘Elephant Gate’, ‘Le Le the Hippo’, ‘New Home Experience of Bengal Tigers’, ‘Big Bird Cage’, and ‘Forest Cafeteria’. Opening hours: open from Tuesday to Sunday all year round from 09:00 to 17:00; closed all day on Monday all year round; closed all day on New Year’s Eve.
