Lapopo Village (Nuan Dong Gorge)

The forest landscape within the gorge is intact, with the pen筒 tree being the majority. The air here is fresh and the stream water is crystal clear, making it an ideal place for family outings. It is also a great spot for butterfly watching, with a particular abundance of yellow butterflies. Within the park, there are two scenic trails along the sides of the stream. One follows along the cliffs, offering a view of the gorge’s beauty, leading to the camping ground of the Keelung City Boy Scout Association, which has a spacious square capable of accommodating 300 campers at once. The other trail follows the valley, connected by a suspension bridge to the red-brick path, with a beautiful and pleasant scenery, accompanied by the clear sound of flowing water, allowing one to forget the worries of the mundane world. Along the way, there are wooden observation pavilions built from logs, where one can enjoy the beauty of waterfalls and the valley. The stream is clear and suitable for activities such as fishing, shrimp catching, splashing in the water, and barbecuing, making it a great place to escape the heat in the summer. At the bottom of the valley, there is a shallow and clear stream with rugged rocks, cliffs, and caves along the stream, and a bat cave on the cliff, where it is said that bats live and often fly in and out of the cave, creating a spectacular and magnificent scene. The opening hours are subject to the actual operating status on the day.
