The well-known part of Wufengqi Scenic Area is ‘Wufengqi Waterfall’. The waterfall has three layers and is about 100 meters in total length. The first-layer waterfall is about 20 meters long and is hidden behind the trees in a small valley. There are also several pools along the downstream where tourists can play. The second-layer waterfall is about 30 meters long. The spring water cascades down directly from the mountainside. There is a waterfall viewing pavilion at the cliff corner where you can overlook the layers of green mountains. The third-layer waterfall is about 50 meters long. The spring water pours down like a thousand horses galloping from the mountains. You can play in the water or swim leisurely in the pool and enjoy the coolness in the sweltering heat. Beside Wufengqi Scenic Area, there is another secluded place – the source of Wufengqi Waterfall. Walking up along the path beside the earth temple at the entrance for about an hour, there are several small ponds. The water is extremely sweet. Many mountaineering friends often take water down the mountain to make tea. Therefore, friends in the mountaineering community named it ‘Wufeng Valley’. Above Wufengqi Scenic Area, there is a Catholic Wufengqi Virgin Mary Mountain Villa. Legend has it that it once appeared and guided lost mountaineering friends, and thus became a pilgrimage site for Catholics. It has an excellent view and can overlook the Lanyang Plain. It is a popular mountaineering route (about a two-hour uphill walk). Opening hours: Open all year round and all day. Tips: It takes about twenty to thirty minutes to walk from the entrance along the trail to the first section of the waterfall.
