The Shi-Ba Guan Canal Ancient Path (Shi-Ba Guan Canal Trail), also known as ‘Top Canal Trail’, is located in Quanyuan Village, Beitou District, Taipei City. In the past, residents collected funds to dig two canals for irrigating farmland with water from Dakeng Stream (now known as ‘Nansuan Stream’). These canals, ‘Shi-Ba Fen Canal’ and ‘Shi-Ba Guan Canal’, both have a history of over a hundred years. Strolling along the gentle canal trail, gazing at the lush green mountains, and listening to the continuous flow of water, adds much charm to the activity. The trail is open all year round, accessible 24/7, with specific operating conditions subject to the day’s opening status.
