Guanwu National Forest Recreation Area

The Guanwu National Forest Recreation Area is located at the border between Wufeng Township in Hsinchu County and Tai’an Township in Miaoli County, with an altitude of approximately 2000 meters. It is named for the perennial mist and clouds that drift through the area, making it the starting point and a must-pass location for viewing Dabaijian Mountain. The Hsinchu Forest District Office has planned this area as a national forest recreation area, with multiple forest trails leading to ancient trees over 2000 years old, such as the Cypress Mountain God Tree, a giant forest, waterfalls, and other scenic spots. Visitors can enjoy the sunrise and the changing natural landscapes throughout the four seasons, as well as a variety of high mountain birds that inhabit the area, making it an excellent spot for birdwatching. The abundance of phytoncide fills every breath, providing a sense of detachment from the mundane world, akin to stepping into a fairyland. The Guanwu Forest Recreation Area features five trails: Waterfall, Giant Trees, Hazel Mountain, Birdwatching, and Honeymoon. The area is open all year round from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
