Keelung Dianji Temple’s King Zhang of Kaizhang

Dianji Temple was built in 1873. So far, it has a history of more than 100 years and is a veritable century-old ancient temple. Dianji Temple enshrines the King Zhang of Kaizhang. The King Zhang of Kaizhang is from Henan Province. In 686 AD, he was ordered to pacify Fujian and Guangdong and made contributions. Therefore, he was posthumously named the King Zhang of Kaizhang. At that time, local gentry Bai Fan in Keelung, Lian Xinyong and Zi Yangchuan of Youji Hall purchased more than ten hectares of fields in Waimushan as temple property and built a temple on it with wood. Later, the Lin Benyuan family, a prominent family in Banqiao, donated the land in Wangtianli, Ren’ai District. Then local gentry Zhang Jinfa and Lai Wu and others donated money and received enthusiastic responses from the local people. After entering the temple, you can see neatly arranged large red stone pillars with couplets for worshipping gods engraved on them. In front of the main god in the main hall, there are stone pillars with flower and bird patterns. Opening hours: Open all year round from 7:00 to 22:00.
