‘At the foot, the grass is like a carpet. In front, there is a deep valley of thousands of meters. Looking around, the mountains are like a belt. Looking up, the clear sky is blue.’ This is an impressionistic description of the Qingjing High-altitude Observation Trail. Experiencing it in person and walking 2,000 steps on the observation trail at an altitude of 1700 meters is another kind of charm. The dozens of hectares of green grass on the Qingjing Farm’s Green Green Prairie feed hundreds of sheep and cattle. The deep valleys of Mount Hehuan and Mount Qilai are filled with clear streams that nourish the waves of Sun Moon Lake. The peaks of the northern section of the Central Mountain Range, including North Peak of Qilai, Main Peak of Qilai, Nanhua Mountain, Nenggao Mountain, Andongjun Mountain, and the Hehuan Mountains, form a high wall like a belt, delaying the projection time of morning light, blocking the morning misty mountains, and also creating the cloud waterfall that comes over the mountains from Hualien and accumulates into a sea of clouds in the Jhuoshuei River Valley. These landscapes enrich the style of the Qingjing Observation Trail and also cultivate its irreplaceable characteristics. The Qingjing High-altitude Landscape Trail is about 1700 to 2000 meters above sea level. It is 1.6 kilometers long and 2.5 meters wide. It connects the existing old trail starting from the Qingjing National Hotel to the end of the Green Green Prairie Story Hall. The trail is based on a friendly natural environment and landscape and adopts a concealed elevated design. Leaving the roadway, crossing the grassland, and shuttling through the treetops, tourists can enjoy safe hiking while observing sheep foraging on the green grass and wild birds jumping on the treetops. Along the way, there are multiple landscape platforms for tourists to stop and enjoy the cool breeze, overlook the Central Mountain Range and the Jhuoshuei River Valley, and also see the much clearer blue sky than on flat ground. Opening hours: Open all year round from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00.
