Nestled atop the Klein Matterhorn at an elevation of 3883 meters, the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise boasts one of Europe’s highest observation decks. Here, you can enjoy an up-close view of the Matterhorn and the surrounding snow-capped mountains, with the magnificent glacier landscapes laid out before you. The summit of the Glacier Paradise is perennially snow-covered, offering an endless vista of snowy plains, with clouds often drifting beneath your feet, creating an experience akin to stepping into a fairyland. From the observation deck, you can gaze directly at the Matterhorn, with the Theodulgletscher at your feet and the Gornergletscher behind you. The journey to the cable car station and observation deck begins in Zermatt with a ride on a small 8-person cable car through Furi and Schwarzsee to Trockener Steg. This scenic ride offers a variety of views as you ascend, with a clear view of the quaint wooden houses nestled in the valley, followed by a transition into a cloud belt, and finally, a dreamlike scene where the clouds swirl beneath your feet, offering a distant view of the Black Lakes in the mountains. At Trockener Steg, switch to a large cable car that accommodates 100 people. This 8-minute ride not only offers views of the glaciers but also passes through the glacier’s confluence, presenting a thrilling experience. The journey culminates at the summit of Klein Matterhorn, at an altitude of 3883 meters. After arriving at the cable car station, take an elevator built into the rocky cliff to reach the observation platform, where you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the mountain range, spanning peaks over 4000 meters in France, Italy, and Switzerland, including the iconic Jungfrau. The high-altitude Glacier Palace, one of the highest in the world, is located 15 meters beneath the surface of the glacier. Accessible by elevator, the Ice Palace offers a stunning display of ice structures, glittering ice crystals, impressive ice sculptures, and awe-inspiring glacier outlets. Additionally, you can enjoy the exhilarating ice slide. The Glacier Palace is open from 9:00 to 15:30 all year round.
