Completed in 2014, Vertical Forest became a new landmark in Milan and was featured as one of the iconic projects at the 2015 World Expo. This innovative urban model of vertical densification of forests aims to create a robust system of biodiversity within the modern city, offering a sanctuary away from the urban hustle. The first phase of Vertical Forest includes two residential towers standing at 110 meters and 80 meters tall, located near the central Isola district of Milan. The complex is home to over 900 trees, more than 4,000 shrubs, and 15,000 perennial plants, vines, and flowers. Their placement on the building is determined by factors such as sunlight and height. This urban forest serves as a new habitat for beneficial insects and migratory birds. Open all year round, Monday to Friday, with full-day access.
