Yuan Heng Temple is located at the foot of Shoushan Mountain
According to the chronicle of major events in the Annals of Kaohsiung City, it was built in the 8th year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1743)
It was established by Master Jingyuan from Zhangzhou, Fujian Province
The main deity enshrined is Avalokitesvara
The main hall of the Great Buddha enshrines five Buddhas and Bodhisattvas such as Sakyamuni Buddha
There are also three thousand Buddhas around the hall
There are reliefs on the inner and outer walls showing the life of Sakyamuni Buddha
The old temple is simple and unsophisticated, while the new temple is magnificent, grand and resplendent
Opening hours: open all year round from 8:00 to 11:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00
