Taitung Tianhou Temple, a temple with a history of over a century, is located on the bustling Zhonghua Road in Taitung City
Inside the temple, there is an approximately 8
8-inch-tall statue of the founding Mazu, which was invited from the Mazu Ancestral Temple on Meizhou Island in Putian County, Fujian, through a ‘soul-inviting ceremony’
This temple has become the center of faith for local believers due to the efficacy of its prayers
Additionally, the temple preserves numerous historical relics from the Qing Dynasty, including a well-known plaque inscribed with ‘Ling Zhao Cheng You’, which was bestowed by Emperor Guangxu
The Tianhou Temple continues to preserve a rich array of traditional folk activities, such as the annual Mazu’s birthday on the 23rd day of the third lunar month, the Lantern Festival’s ‘Gods’ Procession’, and the significant ceremony of ‘Bombarding Han Dan Ye’
The temple is open all year round from 6:00 to 22:00
