Sanxiantai Recreation Area is a well-known tourist attraction in Taitung County, composed of an offshore islet, coral reefs, and a pebble coastline
It is said that Tieguai Li, Lü Dongbin, and He Xiangu from the ‘Eight Immortals’ once rested on the island, leaving three pairs of footprints on the mountain, hence the name Sanxiantai
To facilitate visitor access to the island, an eight-arched sea-crossing pedestrian bridge was constructed in 1987, which has become a local landmark due to its elegant design
The eight-arched sea-crossing bridge of Xiantai, with its wave-like shape, resembles a long dragon lying on the waves, presenting a spectacular sight; the island’s topography and ecological resources are extremely unique and rare, featuring marine erosion landscapes such as sea channels, potholes, sea stacks, and sea cliffs
