Erkunshin Fortress, formerly known as Anping Grand Fortress
Because there is an inscription of ‘Yizai Jincheng’ by Shen Baozhen above the entrance gate, it is commonly known as Yizai Jincheng
This fortress is a modern Western-style fortress designed and constructed by the Frenchman Bertaux
At that time, the fortress building was a square bastion-style fortress built in imitation of Western geometric camps
The protruding bastions at the corners were equipped with large cannons for long-distance attacks; the concave walls were lined with rifle squads to prevent close attacks
Later, according to actual needs, five Armstrong muzzle-loading cannons were installed on the side facing the sea, and four 20-pound and 40-pound small cannons were installed on each of the other sides
During World War II, the fortress was damaged and was once abandoned
After large-scale renovations after the restoration, it is the appearance presented today
The current Yizai Jincheng is surrounded by a moat
The surrounding trees are lush
At present, the surrounding area has been turned into a park with crisscrossing footpaths
Yizai Jincheng attracts countless tourists with its spectacular city gate and huge Armstrong cannon
The towering trees everywhere in the park allow tourists to leisurely savor historical stories and monuments even on a scorching summer day at noon
In addition to the imitation ancient cannons in the city, there is also a commemorative bronze statue of Shen Baozhen
There are pedal swan boats and rowboats on the surrounding moat for tourists to rent
Since January 1998, on holidays, the cannon fireworks of Yizai Jincheng are fired three times on the hour
The antique creativity attracts many tourists to stop and visit
