Xinglong Tropical Garden is located at the foot of Qingmei Mountain in Wanning Xinglong Hot Spring Resort City, Hainan Province, and is a large-scale comprehensive scenic area that integrates nature, culture, gardening, and ecological protection.
The garden was initially established in 1992, covering an area of 5800 acres. It features various viewing areas such as the tropical plant viewing area, tropical rainforest viewing area, biological nurturing area, reconstructed tropical rainforest area (Celebrity Tree Planting Area), horticultural viewing area, and forest camping area.
The garden boasts a rich variety of flora and a flourishing tropical rainforest, which has initially restored the biodiversity of the region and created a benign ecological environment with a virtuous cycle. The garden integrates nature, culture, agriculture, gardening, and environmental ecological protection, serving as a destination for tourism, leisure vacation, and scientific education. It is a combination of tropical rainforest and artificial gardening. This is the ‘kingdom’ of tropical plants and a treasure trove of rare and endangered plants. The garden has planted hundreds of thousands of tropical ornamental plants, including 65 rare and endangered species, 27 of which are listed in the ‘Red Book of Chinese Plants’, and 8 rare and endangered plants have been introduced and cultivated. Many plants that were on the brink of extinction have been protected, bred, and formed communities in their new locations.
