It is said that long ago, a family of fishermen relied on fishing at sea for their livelihood. One day, they encountered a typhoon and the father and his two sons fell into the water. Clinging to a piece of their boat, after several days of struggle, they were on the brink of starvation and thirst when they drifted onto the beach of Wuzhizhou Island. To their surprise, not far from the beach, they found a small puddle, which saved their lives. They later settled on the island and dug a well at the site of the puddle, naming it the ‘Fountain of Life’. This well has been used by fishermen who go out to sea to fish and is still in use today.
The well is open all year round and available 24 hours a day.
