Mao Gong Mountain

Mao Gong Mountain, also known as Baoguo Mountain, is located within the Baoguo Farm in Ledong County, 28 kilometers from the county town and 42 kilometers from Sanya City’s ‘End of the Earth’, both connected by roads.

The unique natural landscape of Mao Gong Mountain is situated atop Baoguo Mountain, stretching from northeast to southwest. Baoguo Mountain is approximately 4,000 meters long, with undulating peaks and a central granite mountain that rises 630 meters high, whose massive rock formations naturally resemble Chairman Mao lying under the sky, serene and lifelike in both form and spirit. In the early morning and evening, the frosty light flickers, and auspicious clouds are ceaseless, evoking a sense of intimacy and reverence in onlookers. ‘Mao Gong Mountain’ is named after the likeness of Chairman Mao. Coincidentally, there is a Li village in front of the mountain called ‘Jiefang Village’ and a Miao village behind it called ‘Dongfanghong’. Both village names were given during the liberation of Hainan in 1950. To the south and north of the mountain, there are two Han Chinese villages named ‘Chonggong’ and ‘Kangmei’, respectively. Today, the mountain’s striking resemblance to a great figure, coupled with the intriguing village names, adds a layer of mystery to this wonder.
