Xianren Cave

Xianren Cave is located in Rongtang Village, Shi Shan Town, and is named after the legend of Taoist priests who practiced and became immortals within the cave.

The cave is divided into upper and lower sections. The lower section features caves within caves and skies beyond skies, creating a bewildering and astonishing experience. Most of the paths inside the cave are pitch black, making it impossible to proceed without the aid of torches or flashlights to navigate the way forward. One can see a variety of stalactites hanging and attached to the rock walls, seemingly on the verge of falling, which is truly astonishing.

The cave is known for its peculiar stones and water. The sound of water droplets can be heard at any time, creating different tones as they hit rocks of various textures, forming a very pleasant melody. The upper section of Xianren Cave is divided into dozens of lava tunnels due to multiple collapses in the cave ceiling, hence it is also known as the ‘Seventy-Two Caves’. These stone caves resemble interconnected spider webs; some are like spacious underground dining rooms; and others are akin to bizarre ancient castles and palaces. Sunlight shines through the skylights created by the collapses, illuminating the dark cave and creating a spectacular and magical scene. The cave is open all year round from 8:00 to 18:00.
