Song Family Ancestral Home in Wenchang

Nestled on a hill surrounded by fruit trees, the Song Family Ancestral Home in Wenchang is enveloped by lush greenery and tranquility. Three generations of Song Qingling’s ancestors, including her great-grandfather, grandfather, and father, who was born here in 1861, lived in this residence. Subsequent constructions include the Qingling Exhibition Hall and the Song Qingling Botanical Garden, with a 3.2-meter-tall white marble statue of Song Qingling erected to the north of the ancestral home.

The current ancestral home adheres to the traditional local farmhouse style, comprising two main rooms, two side rooms, two gate buildings, and courtyard walls. The exhibition hall, a courtyard-style ancient architecture, is situated within and displays historical materials, photographs, charts, paintings, and replicas related to Song Qingling’s youth, her involvement in the revolutionary war, and her dedication to world peace, as well as the deep remembrance from people both domestically and internationally. These historical photos and precious cultural relics vividly and concretely depict the illustrious life of Song Qingling.

Opening hours are from 09:00 to 17:30 all year round. Preferential policies include free entry for children under 1.2 meters in height (not included), discounts for full-time students with valid student IDs, free entry for seniors aged 70 and above with valid ID or senior citizen cards; discounts for those aged between 65 and 69 with valid ID or senior citizen cards, free entry for disabled individuals with disability certificates, free entry for active military personnel with valid military officer or soldier certificates, free entry for retired officials with retirement certificates, and free entry for provincial-level (or above) labor models with relevant certificates of honor. Please note that these preferential policies are for reference only and are subject to the on-site announcements at the scenic spot.

3. When passing through dangerous areas, pay attention to the warning signs of the scenic area. Climbing trees, taking photos, crossing barriers, and crowding are prohibited in dangerous areas. When visiting steep places, fully consider whether your physical condition is suitable, and do not take risks or harbor false hopes.

4. This scenic area is smoke-free. To prevent fire accidents, do not bring flammable or explosive items. There are designated smoking areas within the scenic area; please do not smoke in non-smoking areas, leave fire sources, or litter. Civilized tourism and voluntary compliance with the scenic area’s safety management regulations are encouraged.

5. Please take care of public facilities, do not lie on scenic area props, trees, or public benches, do not chase or fight within the scenic area, and do not deface, post, or hang items on the buildings or public facilities.
Without approval, activities such as group photography and filming movies and TV shows are not allowed.

Six. Please pay attention to your own tour safety. When going up and down steps, please stand firmly and walk slowly to prevent accidental falls. Children and elderly people with difficulty walking need to be accompanied by family members for sightseeing.
