Guanglv • Sanniang Bay project is located within the Sanniang Bay Scenic Area in Qinzhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. This area is one of the important habitats for the Chinese white dolphin, hence it is known as the Hometown of the Chinese White Dolphin. The Chinese white dolphin is a protected animal in our country, often referred to as the ‘Panda of the Sea’.
Not only does the Sanniang Bay Scenic Area boast abundant natural resources, but it also hosts a scientific research team led by Professor Pan, who has been committed to the study and protection of the Chinese white dolphins in Sanniang Bay for over two decades. In the Beibu Gulf waters, the population of Chinese white dolphins has increased from less than a hundred in 2004 to over 300, making it the only growing population among the four major populations.
Furthermore, the white dolphins in the Beibu Gulf are distinctly different from other populations along the Chinese coast, including in aspects of body color, dorsal fins, skull shape, and other physical characteristics. They also possess unique genotypes that are only found in this population. The area is open all year round, accessible 24/7.
