The former site of the Zhanjiang People’s Anti-French Struggle, Mazhang Camp, is located at the Wu Di Temple. With the support of other camps, 250 brave volunteers repeatedly repelled the invasion of the French army. Notably, the battle at ‘Dongju’ was particularly fierce. They fought against modern guns and cannons with homemade weapons, a historic feat that has been widely praised and sung.
