Chong’an Temple

The Chong’an Temple scenic area is located in the central part of Wuxi City. It is in the bustling area of Wuxi. Together with Shanghai City God Temple, Nanjing Confucius Temple Qinhuai River Scenic Belt, and Suzhou Guanqian Street, it forms the four characteristic blocks in the south of the Yangtze River. There are many restaurants and large shopping malls gathered here. Tourists come here mainly for shopping and enjoying delicious food. The scenic area is named after the Chong’an Temple that once stood here. Chong’an Temple has a history of more than 1,600 years. But now it no longer exists, leaving only the bustling commercial area around. If you want to taste traditional cuisine, you can go to restaurants such as Wangxingji, Gongdelin, and Huangting Delicacies. If you want to go shopping, you can go to New World Department Store, Yaohan, Parkson. There are also emerging commercial blocks such as Poly Plaza, Oriental Paris, and Huijin Plaza. If you are tired from shopping, you can go to the park and sit down. This is one of the parks that can be visited and played for free in China in the early years. There are 24 scenic spots such as Fangtang Academy, Thatched Cottage on the Pond, Worshiping Stones in Embroidered Clothes, Reminiscing in the Thatched Cottage, Admiring the Greenery from the Pine Cliff, Tasting Spring Water in Baishui, Listening to the Sound of Qin in the Orchid Grove, and the Chirping of Birds in the Cherry Grove. In front of the former site of Wuxi County Library, there is a statue of blind Ah Bing playing the erhu. The famous erhu piece ‘The Moon Reflected on Second Spring’ was created by him. Beside it is Ah Bing’s former residence which requires payment for visiting.
