Daguling Scenic Area

Daguling is the western extension of the Huangshan mountain range, serving as a watershed for the Xin’an River and the Qingyi River, along with Tangdi Ridge, Yinxi Ridge, Fangjia Ridge, and others. The mountain scenery is exquisite, featuring waterfalls and vast bamboo forests. The name Daguling, which translates to ‘Drum-Beating Ridge,’ is derived from the echoing sound of the waterfalls in the valley, resembling the beat of drums.

At the base of Daguling, there is a large lawn designated for camping, where visitors can bring their own cooking utensils and food for barbecues. The scenic area entrance is a distance from the base, accessible by sightseeing vehicles for a round trip fee of 15 yuan, or by walking. The ascent from the mountain foot to the summit does not require much climbing, with three significant waterfalls along the way: the first waterfall is likened to a maiden’s delicate fringe on her cheek, elegant and reserved; the second waterfall is compared to a fairy’s fluttering sleeves; the third waterfall is akin to a valiant warrior pounding a drum with a mallet, creating a thunderous roar as it plunges into the pool.

The highest point of Daguling, Xiaoling Head, is crowned with Yongcui Pavilion, which houses a large drum. Walking along the mountain paths, one can frequently see bamboo forests lining both sides of the road, offering a refreshing green vista. Additionally, the villages and pastoral scenery at the base of the mountain are also quite picturesque.
