Hongmei Park is a vast park located in Changzhou city, boasting a large lake and excellent greenery. The park is filled with garden landscapes that can be seen everywhere, and it is a popular spot for locals to take walks. On weekends, many parents bring their children to play here.
The Wenbi Tower within the park is one of the oldest existing structures in Changzhou, and the red plum blossoms that bloom at the end of winter and the beginning of spring are also very famous. Hongmei Park is only about 1 kilometer away from Changzhou Railway Station and Changzhou Bus Terminal, situated to the north of Tianning Temple. It was originally the site of Tianning Temple’s gardens and later expanded into the park we see today.
The park has many entrances. If you wish to see historical buildings, you can enter from the south entrance. For those looking to enjoy recreational facilities, the north entrance is more convenient. Hongmei Pavilion and Wenbi Tower are important ancient structures within the park. Walking straight north from the South 2 entrance will lead you to the Hongmei Pavilion, which was first built during the Tang Dynasty’s Zhaosong period and reconstructed during the Qing Dynasty’s Guangxu period. The two-story pavilion contains some stone carvings. In front of the Hongmei Pavilion stands a 2.5-meter-tall Bingmei Stone with patterns resembling plum blossoms.
At the South 1 entrance, you will find the Wenbi Tower, which is built along the edge of the park. It was first constructed during the Southern Dynasties and stands seven stories high with a copper gourd on top. Climbing the tower allows you to overlook the cityscape of Changzhou. Near the amusement park, you can see swans in Swan Lake and flamingos on Flamingo Island. In summary, the northern part of the park is essentially a paradise for children. Within Hongmei Park, you can also see the Tianning Pagoda of Tianning Temple. Walking along the water’s edge of the park, you are sure to find a satisfying spot to photograph the reflection of the Tianning Pagoda.
The park is open all year round and accessible 24/7.
