Huangshan Fort

Huangshan is bordered by Enose Mountain and Junshan to the west, and connects to Xiaoshan, Changshan, and Wushan to the east, stretching along the river for 10 kilometers. It shields the rich and fertile lands of the Jiangnan region, naturally forming a strategic position with mountains as a pillow and water as a barrier, creating a natural stronghold.

During the Tongzhi and Guangxu reigns of the Qing Dynasty, to defend against foreign naval invasions, additional forts were constructed here, turning it into the renowned Jiangyin fortress known both domestically and internationally. Today, the remnants of the past still stand, with 12 concrete forts distributed across various bays and hilltops, 7 unearthed ancient cannons from the 13th year of the Tongzhi era (1874), and 2 ‘Yao Wu General’ thousand-pound iron cannons along with their ammunition, forming a historical battlefield site that spans both ancient and modern times.

The site is open all year round and is accessible 24 hours a day.
