In the tranquil waters to the south of Dinghai, there lies an island that resembles a languidly reclining cat, accompanied by a smaller island that looks like an endearing kitten. This is the origin of the ‘Big and Little Cat Islands’. Later, with the implementation of the strategy for the development of the larger island and the relocation of the smaller one, along with the policies of township withdrawal, expansion, and merger, the island was incorporated into Huannan Subdistrict in 2001.

The villagers on the island mostly make a living through agriculture. There are no schools, public buses, or markets on the island. The villagers have to take boats to Dinghai to purchase daily necessities such as fish and meat. The opening hours and specific business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
