The Shengze Lake Rose Garden covers an area of approximately 800 acres, located by the Shengze Lake in Xiangcheng District, Suzhou, a paradise on earth. It is an ecological leisure garden integrating the garden and lake, themed around roses. The entire park adheres to the principles of natural ecology, planting over a hundred varieties and millions of roses, including hybrid tea roses, ground cover roses, shrub roses, climbing roses, miniature roses, and multicolored roses. Various ornamental green plants are interspersed orderly with a natural harmony. Adjacent to the north bank of the Rose Garden, Shengze Lake is renowned for its ecologically clear lake water among the lakes in the Jiangnan region. The entire water area reaches 5 square kilometers, and its water quality meets the Class II standard of surface water environmental quality, making it a ‘provincially protected’ lake.
Apart from its unique lakeside floral scenery, the Shengze Lake Rose Garden is also equipped with various experiential and sightseeing functional areas, mainly divided into five major functional areas: the entrance service area, rose appreciation area, ecological science popularization area, commercial leisure area, and sports rest area. It features several distinctive projects such as bonsai gardens, wooden boardwalks, brick factory sites, research and study bases, and outdoor sports fields. The park was rated as a national 3A-level tourist attraction in 2012 and serves as a Jiangsu Province environmental education base, a Suzhou Class II sports park, a Xiangcheng District science education base, and a social practice experience station for minors.
Opening hours are from 08:30 to 17:00 all year round. Preferential policies include: Children under 6 years old (inclusive) or under 1.4 meters in height (inclusive) are admitted free with valid identification; minors aged 6 to 18 years old (inclusive) enjoy half-price tickets with valid identification; full-time university undergraduate and below students enjoy half-price tickets with valid identification; seniors aged 70 years old (inclusive) and above are admitted free with valid identification; seniors aged 60 to 70 years old (exclusive) enjoy half-price tickets with valid identification; active duty military personnel and retired military officers of the People’s Republic of China are admitted free with valid identification; disabled persons and one accompanying person for severely disabled individuals are admitted free with valid identification; preferential treatment recipients receiving national pensions and retired war veterans are admitted free with Jiangsu Province’s preferential treatment recipient’s pension subsidy certificate or preferential treatment card; blood donation volunteers who have received national awards for unpaid blood donation, unpaid hematopoietic stem cell donation, and lifetime honorary awards for unpaid blood donation volunteer service are admitted free with relevant documents.
