Ancient Buddha Cave

Ancient Buddha Cave is located to the north of Feisha Ao. Inside the cave, there is an enshrined full-body relic of the monk Ren Guang, which is the only physical body in Mount Putuo, known as the ‘Ancient Buddha’.

Ren Guang attained nirvana in the 33rd year of the Guangxu period, and his body remained incorrupt. His disciples coated and gilded his physical body, which is enshrined in the cave.

Next to the cave, there is the Ancient Buddha Hermitage. Although the scenery is beautiful here, it is rarely visited by tourists, making it an excellent place for those who seek seclusion and exploration.
