Rongxiang Historical Block, also known as Rongxiang Ancient Town, is one of the cradles of China’s national industry and commerce and is one of the famous historical and cultural districts in Wuxi City.
Rongxiang has a history of nearly 600 years, originating from a natural village where the Rong family gathered during the Ming and Qing dynasties. With the rapid rise of the national industrial and commercial group represented by Rong Zongjing and Rong Desheng of the Rong family, Rongxiang evolved into a street town.
It is deeply influenced by the Rong family’s culture, industrial and commercial culture, landscape ecology, history of famous cities, agricultural civilization, and the modern civilization that combines Chinese and Western elements, presenting a diversity of forms and regional uniqueness, forming a colorful cultural scene.
To this day, a 380-meter-long old street with modern features and 157 buildings with the imprint of the times and local characteristics are still preserved. The opening hours and specific business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
