Qita Temple

Qita Temple features elegant and simple yet solemn temple halls. It is a typical seven-hall establishment of Zen temples. The main buildings include: Seven Buddha Pagodas, mountain gate archway, Heavenly Kings Hall, Yuantong Treasure Hall, Three Saints Hall, Dharma Hall and Sutra Depository, Jade Buddha Pavilion, Ancestral Hall, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, east and west wing rooms, and comprehensive building. In addition to the main halls being classical architecture, the temple also preserves a number of precious cultural relics: the stupa of Master Xinjing Zanghuan, the founding patriarch of the temple; two large bronze bells from the Song Dynasty, each weighing seven or eight thousand catties; a set of the ‘Dragon Sutra’ printed in the 13th year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty (1735) and bestowed by Emperor Guangxu; a bundle of Sanskrit palm-leaf scriptures; a set of stone carvings of 500 arhats from the Qing Dynasty with exquisite craftsmanship and a perfect combination of form and spirit. These are rare treasures in Buddhism and unparalleled in China. There are also various precious cultural relics in the ‘Qi Xin Yi Lan’ cultural relics exhibition room. Opening hours: Open all year round from 5:00 to 17:00. Must-see tips: Incense cannot be burned inside the temple.
